2008-503 – The Scheduling Process

Overview:
The process of scheduling jobs is based on the status of factory orders, due dates of orders and lead times of material and parts.  Using the combination of this data, jobs can be scheduled based on automated start dates or nominated start dates to meet appropriate fulfilment requirements.

Scheduling a Job:
To start the scheduling process, edit your manufacturing order and then click the “View Job Cost…” button.

Once clicked, the “Current Job Progress Summary” window will open and then click the “Scheduling…” button.

Once clicked, the “Job Scheduling Summary” window will open and then click the “View Job Schedule…” button.

You will now have the “Job Scheduling” window open where you can now start to schedule your job.   Leaving the “Desired Start Date” blank, click the “Update Scheduling for this Job…” button to have the system automatically calculate the best start date and then the window will show requirements for each Workcenter by day.  On the top right of the window, details of the scheduling and processing dates will be displayed.

If you are happy with the scheduled dates, then click the “Save Scheduling for this Job…” button.

If you prefer different scheduling dates, then enter a “Desired Start Date” and click the “Update Scheduling for this Job…” button.  You can alter the desired start date and update on multiple occasions until you are satisfied with the scheduling results then click the “Save Scheduling for this Job…” button.

Following the saving of your scheduling for the job, details on the impact on the Workcenter scheduling capacity will be shown indicating the job requirement hours for each day for all existing tickets that have been created for the job.  At the bottom of the window, there is a monthly summary for each Workcenter for each day indicating what the new available hours are following the scheduling of this job.  For referencing on the allocation percentage, I have ticked the “View Legend” check box, which indicates what colours reflect what availability there is for the Workcenter for each day.

If you need to clear the schedule for a job, from the ‘Job Scheduling’ window click the “Remove Scheduling for this Job…” button.

To view what jobs are currently scheduled for a Workcenter on a given day, dbl-click on the hours shown for the Workcenter and day, and the current list of scheduled jobs will be displayed.
